Last night was the CMA Country Music Awards and it was country’s night of performances. Carrie Underwood & Brad Paisley hosted and did an amazing job. Little Big Town had a hit that got them big success and there’s a new power couple in country music : Blake Shelton & Miranda Lambert.

In case you missed last nights show here is a list of the winners, part of me thinks that list I got from the cma preview was not correct because at least one of the categories I listed was not mentioned at all (Video of Year)  :

Single  Little Big Town ” Pontoon”

Duo Thompson Square

Song  Miranda Lambert “Over You

Album Eric Church

New Artist  Hunter Hayes

Group Little Big Town

Male Vocalist Blake Shelton

Female vocalist Miranda Lambert

Entertainer Blake Shelton

The Performances this year had a concert like feel to them which in most of the performance added to the performance. Sure there were a few flops such as Little Big Town’s stage set up which did not impress me or the pairing of Keith Urban with Zach Brown Band.

The performances that shined to me were : Miranda Lambert performing Fastest Girl In Town, loved the light show behind her and that song is awesome. Carrie Underwood looked beautiful in her sparkly dress and Blown Away is such a moving song and seemed a fitting tribute after hurricane sandy ( not the drunk part of it but all the memories blown away ).

Hunter Hayes performed his song Wanted and Taylor Swift performed her new song Begin Again, these two are the next generation of country someday they will be the legends that hopeful singers look up to. I loved Taylor’s new song the parsian cafe set, the fiddle and old style instruments and the words to the song were beautiful. What saddened me was how fans on twitter decided to trash her and say hurtful things, all artists should be treated with respect and if you don’t like someones singing then put them on mute.

The night ended with a tribute to Willie Nelson and his songs, You were Always On My Mind by Lady Antebellum, Good Hearted Woman by Faith Hill & Tim McGraw, and Whiskey River Don’t Run Dry by Blake Shelton & Keith Urban. The tribute ended with Willie singing On the Road again and getting a lifetime achievement award.

Other performances were by : Brad Paisley, Eric Church, Jason Aldean, Luke Bryan, Dierks Bently, Faith Hill, Kenney Chesney and many more acts.
